ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the main aim of higher education is to pursue-the preparation of a competitive specialist, and he is the one who is constantly involved in self-development. It is worth saying that selfdevelopment is an essential part of this process, as the society and future employers seek for the professionals who can think differently and creatively. This shift is explained by rapid technological advances, increased globalization, and dynamic career patterns (Kraut and Korman 1999). Self-development of specialists has recently become an urgent issue for employers due to the necessity of employees to move from one working environment to another and the ability to adapt to changes that are happening due to some economic changes. The problems for the researchers to decide are: to identify what concrete characteristics that professionals in different fields should possess, what certain directions are to be followed to satisfy the appearing needs of the employers, what self-development programs for specialists to create, and what forms and methods to use. All these should be based on one main idea that is personal growth of the specialists, acquisition of something new.
