ABSTRACT

Anything that can be thought about has already been done. By extension, all of our most awful fantasies have already been enacted. How is it possible to bear the knowledge of having done some of these things and how is it possible to work with those who have done them? This chapter looks at the complex and powerful feelings that are aroused in work with male offenders and considers the importance of acknowledging both the conscious responses and the unconscious transference and countertransference.
