ABSTRACT

People bereaved through suicide have a hard path to tread as they try to make sense of what appears to be a very senseless act, typically struggling with feelings of guilt and constant self-searching reflections. Some men find it easier to talk to women, of course, but for those that find it harder it would be better to have the option of attending a men-only suicide bereavement support group. People bereaved through suicide are a badly neglected group whose acute needs and problems are very considerable and warrant a compassionate, well-organised systematic response. The Leeds Organisation for Survivors of Suicide group met twice a month and was run by people who had themselves been bereaved through suicide, so they knew first hand what it was like and that was very important to the people who came to the group.
