ABSTRACT

Few who pick up this book and look at its Contents will turn to Part 2, Chapter 10 with immediate enthusiasm. Strategies, structures and processes may have been hard enough to swallow in the preceding chapter, but policies, protocols and procedures sound about as good as any sleeping pill. The emphasis throughout has been on rethinking how we approach service user and carer involvement and on how we can integrate our own healthcare experiences and professional practice. So what have policies, protocols and procedures got to do with that?
