ABSTRACT
Wales was published with a similar paper in December in Scotland. Both proposed the replacement of the tripartite division of health services with area boards (40-50 for England and Wales), combining the responsibilities of Regional Hospital Boards, Hospital Management Committees, local authority personal health services and Executive Councils.
