ABSTRACT
Since the publication of this chapter, concerning the economics of incontinence, in the previous edition of this book, the global financial crisis of 2008 has impacted upon health-care budgets in many countries. Now, more than ever, patients and health-care providers are seeking "value for money." In the current economic climate, we all need to be aware of the costs of the treatments that we recommend and be able to judge whether a new treatment is truly cost-effective.
