ABSTRACT

Patients suffering from various congenital and acquired disorders of the reproductive tract are currently treated with surgical and hormonal therapies. These techniques are not ideal and do not routinely lead to physiological recovery of the affected organ or organs. This has led scientists in the field of regenerative medicine to apply the principles of cell transplantation, materials science, and bioengineering to construct biological substitutes that may eventually improve the quality of life for these patients.
