ABSTRACT

Urinalysis is an essential noninvasive investigation and has been described since the era of the ancient egyptians [1]. Basic urinalysis, conducted by the patient's bedside or in the office setting, allows for rapid assessment of urine to screen for a number of concerning pathologies including infection, diabetes mellitus, dehydration, malignancy, nephropathy, and renal stones. More detailed analysis can then be carried out in a laboratory to confirm diagnoses.
