ABSTRACT
The workplace has become an area of increased involvement by psychiatrists, especially in the United States, including to provide advice to occupational health and human resources departments. Requests for psychiatric assessments and reports, and consequent requirements to give expert testimony (e.g., at tribunals or in civil courts) are increasing, including in relation to civil claims, employment litigation, and disability assessments. Public benefits and private insurance payments may depend on psychiatric opinion.
