ABSTRACT
Bullying, a new topic in this text, has been becoming more visible in the social landscape for children and adolescents in and out of school. is, of course, is not a new phenomenon, but the increasing media coverage and social climate change have brought bullying behavior into the limelight. ere have been television shows, movies, video games, and numerous editorials that surround this topic either directly or indirectly. e government has established an anti-bullying website for the public, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have begun collecting statistics about the behavior. In March 2011, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted the inaugural White House Conference on Bullying Prevention that exemplies the newfound interest and concern about this age-old social phenomenon (Shepherd 2011).
