ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to define mesenteric-based surgery, variants of this, and the outcomes associated. The second aim is to demonstrate how future resources are probably best directed at standardizing colorectal surgery worldwide rather than continued attempts at proving supremacy of one concept over another. A final aim is to demonstrate the importance of generating a curriculum to enable the standardization process.
