ABSTRACT
Clinical research studies can be categorized into several different categories and subcategories, depending on the design and the prospective or retrospective nature of data collection. For convenience, the two broad categories for study designs that are most applicable to nephrology research are observational and interventional studies. A summary of these dierent study designs and their associated features is shown in Table 53.1.
