ABSTRACT
The term biomarker is broad, and it may be applied to results of any test that provides functional information on a living organism. For the purpose of this chapter we will concentrate on potentially clinically useful markers that are humoral, sampled from a peripheral vein, and have been found to correlate with the presence or severity or evolution of pulmonary hypertension (PH) either with or without treatment.
