ABSTRACT

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are structurally abnormal vascular structures that provide a direct capillary-free communication between the pulmonary and systemic circulations (1). The latest estimates suggest PAVMs sufficiently large for detection by computed tomography (CT) affect 1 in 2630 (95% confidence intervals 1 in 1315 to 1 in 5555) (2).
