ABSTRACT

I have been treating a particular family for over 20 years. The grandmother, Lea, about 82 years old, is an old lady who suffers mainly from Parkinson’s disease, and also from hypertension, glaucoma, ischemic heart disease and arthritis. Last year I also diagnosed senile dementia and she then went to live with her only son and had a Philippine nurse assistant. She is bed ridden, but just sits sometimes in front of the TV. She always complains that she doesn’t feel good, and over the last five years I’ve made home visits once every two to three months. Our relationship was almost perfect – I was the kind, ideal, and noble visiting doctor, who does not take money for visits. I also had a good relationship with her only son, an officer in the police force, and we always spoke freely and with kinship feelings, when I visited his mother.
