ABSTRACT

Leadership skills’ training is an important area for many health professionals and managers working for the NHS. General practitioners, dentists, pharmacists and other independent contractors are self-employed professionals running their own businesses, and so must take business decisions on behalf of themselves, their staff and their patients. Leadership skills training has become even more important for GPs, dentists and pharmacists since the advent of their latest NHS contracts, when dealing with the many changes that have been heaped upon them as part and parcel of working in the NHS. If we in the health professions needed good leadership before, then we certainly do now.
