ABSTRACT

This chapter shows how something more than "'something more' than interpretation" is needed to reliably change people's relational patterns, if those changes are to effect internal working model transformations. It discusses Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), its technical and phenomenological contributions, focusing on how to make the most of the transformational potential of 'moments of meeting' and thus reliably transform now moments into wow moments. The chapter suggests an expanded conceptualization of "moments of meeting" that goes beyond the intersubjective relational realm to include all change-for-the-better moments. It focuses on metatherapeutic processing, AEDP's contribution to a systematic methodology for working with transformational experiences. The practice of metatherapeutic processing involves experientially investigating what is healing about healing, in the context of a healing relationship. The chapter illustrates how the methodology of metatherapeutic processing can systematically turbocharge the transformational process, extending, deepening, consolidating, and expanding its reach.
