ABSTRACT

The future of the Doha Development Round of multilateral trade negotiations has become uncertain. The Nairobi ministerial conference of WTO held in December 2015 could not secure a full reaffirmation of the Doha Development Agenda that was launched with great expectations in 2001. What was earlier feared, judging from pressures and pulls to which these negotiations have been subjected to in recent years, has now become more formal with the Nairobi declaration 1 stating that while many members want to carry out the work on the basis of the Doha structure, some want to explore new architecture.
