ABSTRACT

Color and luster are the two important aspects that enhance the esthetic appeal of a fabric. Color categories and physical specifications of color are associated with three factors: light source, object, and the observer. Color is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, blue, and yellow. Vision is due to the stimulation of the optic nerves present in human eye by light either directly from its source or indirectly after reflection from other objects. Newton's phrase “the rays are not colored,” makes it clear that light is not intrinsically colored but it is the sensation that light rays produce in the human brain. Color exists only in mind. Human eye is the organ that receives light and is responsible for vision. Woven fabrics can be produced with different color effects by using a combination of a particular weave and two or more colors with their special arrangement.
