ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides an overview of gender and family entrepreneurship to enhance people understanding of different entrepreneurial behaviors between men, women, asexual and transgender individuals and how they are integrated specifically into business. It focuses on how culture affects leadership styles and influences the intention to create businesses based on gender. It also examines the role of gender by focusing on behavioural traits such as perceived ability to manage a business based on gender stereotypes. The book discusses the need for gender dimensions to be addressed within studies of family entrepreneur-ship that can help practice but also inform policy. It focuses on gender more broadly by reviewing the literature about family business succession. It then provides a holistic understanding about the role of father daughter relationships in family entrepreneurship.
