ABSTRACT

Modern society is inextricably linked to mass communication, and one does not exist without the other. In this way, the mass media can also be considered as modellers or mirrors of the society and of the social changes, constituting themselves, therefore, as the main messengers about our society: its values, principles, culture, laws, norms, traditions, etc. Therefore, mass media emerges as a store of memories and a map of where we are and of who we are, contributing to the construction of our identity. In fact, at the present time, the mass media are also socializing agents of the individual. In this sense, for gender studies, the mass media are an important source of information on issues of identity, representation and gender roles.
