ABSTRACT

Family structure is an interactive system that influences the behaviour of its members as well as their perception of reality. Our paper aims to establish a link between the young entrepreneur and family structure in the Tunisian context. More specifically, we examine the impact of this structure, marital status and the parental model, on the business creation process among young Tunisian entrepreneurs. An exploratory qualitative study conducted using semi-structured interviews with 20 young entrepreneurs and thematic content analysis showed the importance of the commonly neglected parental model and marital status. The combination of these two variables allowed us to offer four business creation models that are specific to young Tunisian entrepreneurs.
