Introduction

After the collapse of the Soviet empire, during the past 25 years, entrepreneurs in Central and Eastern Europe have reshaped traditional industries and created new industries, combining innovative ideas with traditional competencies. The chapter gives an introduction to the book dealing with how and why companies in these countries led by entrepreneurs develop, in particular how they expand globally, and what the role of new knowledge and innovation has been in the internationalization process.
