ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a review of the relevant literature to explain the topic of social impact measurement and the existing types of standardization in measurement tools. It describes adopted methodology. The chapter is concerned with the perspective of the entrepreneurs concerning existing barriers to standardized measurement tools (SMTs), presenting and discussing the findings of the research. Although the purpose of the chapter is to focus on the barriers, a comprehension of all of these other elements has been considered pivotal to an overall picture of the organizations and of their practices. The identified barriers pinpoint a significant gap between the attitude and the behaviour of entrepreneurs regarding the topic. In order to understand the main barriers to the use of SMTs for assessing social value creation, the choice was made to focus on the perceptions of entrepreneurs. The perception of SMTs as being resource-consuming might be mitigated as organizations can choose the model that best matches with their available resources.
