ABSTRACT
In 1985, under the guidance of the national Ministry of Education and in collaboration with the University of Waterloo in Canada, the Shanghai University of Engineering Science took the lead with the first cooperative education pilot, marking the start of cooperative education programmes in the Chinese mainland. Since then it has become more and more popular among higher education institutions in Mainland China with an expansion todifferent higher institutions and modal diversification.
However, we are still facing big challenges in the practice of cooperative education. Recommendations and solutions on the further implementation of cooperative education will be suggested in this chapter.
