ABSTRACT
WHIPPING AT CoMMON LAW ABOLISHED.-At Common Law the Court can order whippin~ as part of the sentence on a conviction for a mIsdemeanour. Practically, the power is obsolete. Section 10 abolishes it. It is also provided that no woman shall in any case be whipped. A woman assaulting the Queen might be whIpped by 5 and 6 Vic. cap. 51, and it is possible that some other statute may authorize sllch a punishment.
