I AuruaC 15th, 187 •• wish to do good to their fellow creatures could hardly do a greater good than to qualify themselves as teachers, and go out to India to assist the native women to elevate themselves by education. • • • The Government recognise the importance of the Female Normal Schools; so much so that in Byderabad, when a school was established and a lady teacher engaged to conduct it, the Government took upon themselves the whole of the expense. But in no one of the Normal Schools is there a regularly trained female teacher. There are excellent ladies superintending the schools at Madras and at Poona, but tliey have not been trained scientifically for teaching. That is the point which requires to be brought before the Government.
