ABSTRACT

In this chapter we discuss how ethnographic research emphasising comparative reflection can contribute to the field of integration of immigrants in Norway. The case we refer to is an ongoing research project on immigrant women’s ways into paid labour, in a municipality in Southern Norway. This project results from discussions between researchers and practitioners in the region. The chapter argues that in a globalised and changing world, with increased mobility between the Global South and the North, experiences from the field of development studies can and should be brought into studies of integration in a Norwegian context.
