ABSTRACT

The script is a series of sound bites about, or voice collage of, expectations that each group has of the others. If the focus was on the student teacher expectations, there would be two cooperating teachers and two faculty consultants, and so on. Students who had more than one student teaching experience reported that each cooperating teacher had different expectations that positively or negatively affected their relationship. Expectations can and do extend beyond the formal. There are differences in styles that can be interpreted as inadequacies, and judgments can easily be formed and perpetuated when expectations are not made clear and negotiated. Creating a space for conversation can contribute to a more positive experience for all.
