ABSTRACT
A person's sexual communication can be largely determined by the communication that he or she was exposed to and participated in growing up. Families that have a high level of conversation orientation communicate with one another freely, frequently, and spontaneously and do not have many time or topic limitations to conversation. In today's society, with our sexualized media, sexualized clothing, and lax attitudes about sex, it is almost impossible to not communicate in a sexual manner. Not everything is appropriate to share! the author talks to his mom about most things, though he would never tell her minute details about a sexual situation. However, she always made author's sister and him feel comfortable enough to talk to her about any sexual situation, because she wanted to ensure that we would be practicing safe sex and keeping our reputations and morals intact.
