Experienced exhibition designers will tell you that there is no greater challenge than designing exhibitions for kids. The reason is simple. Most exhibitions for adults are about something-culture, science, history. Successful exhibitions for kids are primarily for someone-kids of varying ages and their caregivers. The advocacy implied in being for someone has fundamental implications for design. To be successful for kids, design must begin with the physical, cognitive, and developmental characteristics that make kids as an audience so diverse, interesting, and fun.
