ABSTRACT

The more years I put into teaching, the more ways I find to have fun. One of the greatest tragedies of modern life is that people do not grow up in families that have long philosophical discussions with no television to distract them. I know that sounds silly, but arguing about the meaning of a public event or analyzing your day or doing a deep critique of a sitcom can really be great fun. I find it sad that people don’t learn to have fun with ideas, because that is really one of life’s greatest pleasures. If you don’t know that, you don’t really know how to have fun.
