ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the facility development and management in a typical weight room along with legal responsibilities and concepts, liability exposure, and policies and procedures. The initial step in planning and designing a new facility is to form a committee to assist in each step of the process. This can be subdivided intopre-design, design, construction, and pre-operation phases. The chapter identifies the primary duties involved in strength and conditioning maintenance and safety for both the equipment and the facility. It demonstrates an understanding of the legal duties and concepts associated with facility design and management. The chapter also identifies potential areas of legal concern in the operations of strength and conditioning facility and the steps that can be taken to minimize risk. It also demonstrates an understanding of the policies and procedures associated with developing and managing strength and conditioning facility.
