ABSTRACT
The intersection between theory and practice in federal government executive branch leadership and administration has great relevance to public perceptions about the role and purpose of the U.S. federal government. If appropriately studied and understood, improved theory and practice would enable executive branch leaders to develop more effective responses to 21st-century challenges and would increase confidence that the executive branch is delivering on the great public trust it has been given.
