ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author focuses on 'resilience coaching' aimed at women through a thematic analysis of websites and associated media. The concept of resilience traverses as a new ethical and political ideal across many fields from the military to self-help culture. The author coins the term 'psy-resilience' in the chapter to emphasise the imbrication of psy practices and resilience in coaching, and illustrates elements of psy-resilience in coaching from coaching websites and texts. The chapter contributes to feminist studies of postfeminism in organisations through exploring how resilience coaching produces whiteness connected to postfeminism, resulting in a configuration of a particular form of workplace femininity. It briefly describes coaching as a practice, introduces the rise of resilience discourse and subjects, defines whiteness, before analysing websites and coaching media from the United States and United Kingdom which focus on resilience coaching aimed at women.
