ABSTRACT
This chapter illustrates the situation experienced by young people in the Federal Republic of Germany, focusing on the challenges set by the education system, especially for young people of immigrant origin. The main thrust of the chapter is directed at current proposals for how to deal with these pedagogical challenges. It is shown that young people of immigrant origin in Germany are still disadvantaged in various ways, and that strategies are required to set the balance.
