ABSTRACT

Since joining the EU in 2004 there has been enormous emigration of young people from Latvia mainly due to the better economic situation in many other European countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. As a result of the wars and conflicts in the Middle East and the flow of refugees in the European Union, Latvia participates in solving the European immigration crises. The chapter aims to explore how migration has influenced life and education in Latvia. The author analyses migration processes in Latvia after joining the European Union using analysis of statistical data and media information

The chapter provokes further discussion on advantages and disadvantages of migration for society of Latvia and its educational system.
