ABSTRACT

Although she grew up as the daughter of a nationally acclaimed architect, Canna Patel had no intention of pursuing a career in architecture; she had a greater inclination towards the field of design, particularly textile design. However, she was clear early on that she did not aspire to simply be a homemaker. She applied to the National Institute of Design in 1980, certain that she would be accepted in this prestigious institute. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Although she saw this as a setback then, she considers it a blessing in disguise now as this incident led to her joining the Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University the same year.
