ABSTRACT

Born in Banares, to a sculptor father and a talented homemaker mother, Chitra Vishwanath (née Krishnan) belongs to a Tamil Brahmin family. Her father, a teacher at Banares Hindu University, had gone for his master’s in sculpture at the University of Oregon in the United States in 1967. It is here that he came to know about architecture and design and was much swayed by the possibilities. He therefore decided that his daughter should study in one of these fields.
