Introduction

Significant developments across Asia suggest the need for a new edition of the Routledge Handbook of Asian Security. The transformations that have taken place since the publication of the original volume in 2009 can be discussed under three distinct rubrics: regional, national and individual. The changes at all three levels are discussed below.
