ABSTRACT
Probation and parole are critical parts of corrections. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in 2014 (the latest figures available), more than 3.9 million adults were on probation, and approximately 857,000 were on parole. Also, approximately 25% of probationers and 32% of parolees were under supervision for drugrelated offenses (Kaeble, Maruschak & Bonczar, 2015).
