ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author considers 'creative conversations of the practitioners and professionals to implement the themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in a creative way. Talking with practitioners round the table, she considers what creativity meant in her context. She recounted the Jam Jar Project. She referred to the photos that documented the visible and sharable evidence of the deep learning that took place. As she talked, the author turned the pages of a picture book which documented the development of a project initiated by one child, and led to the involvement and extended learning of the whole class over a period of time. The whole class joined in the session and they had the confidence that had been built up through this and other reactive projects, which enabled them to react in this way, because they did not have the prescriptive curriculum that tells them.
