ABSTRACT

This book was organized into five parts, addressing different aspects of research on conceptual change. Each part included a number of short chapters followed by a synthesis. This overall synthesis offers a second layer of synthesis by discussing the different ways in which authors of the part syntheses approached their task, presenting a synthetic narrative that weaves together multiple strands of research on conceptual change, reflecting on how obstacles to synthesis were overcome and pointing out some challenges that need to be faced if future research on conceptual change is to develop in a more programmatic direction.
