ABSTRACT
Introduction Paul Samuelson once said that he doesn’t care who writes a nation’s laws, if only he could write its textbooks. This illustrates very well the importance of economics in the public discourse and its political relevance. In contrast to classical economists such as Adam Smith, most economists today usually claim that their science is not normative per se, but that there exists a clear distinction between positive and normative economics.
