ABSTRACT

This chapter devotes to the trajectories of agents, corporate executives, directors and financial journalists, who all contribute to the spread of shareholder value in France and are, as such, active agents in financialisation 'a la francaise'. Financial professions do not represent an increasing share of the careers of economic elites. The French financialisation is, rather, a conversion of financial agents, the transformation of financial transactions and business and the monitoring of financial information by banks. The financialisation described here echoes described by E. Chiapello as a process if gradual colonization. Through the use of techniques and methods, which are not only financial but also financialized. This research program moves the traditional focus on the effects of financialisation, due to the growth of the power and wealth of financial actors, towards the issue of the financialisation of these actors.
