ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the information corruption intelligence and analysis and anti-corruption planning by global businesses. It points out several key considerations for global businesses. The chapter explains some basic considerations about corruption that a business should understand. It also explains where to locate more detailed information about specific countries and the regions in which those countries are located. The chapter shows that the citations linked to the reference section—is to point businesses to important literature about corruption conditions and anti-corruption reforms. Supporting moral, political, and economic objections to corruption, domestic laws in virtually every country prohibit various forms of corruption, especially bribery of public officials by businesses or individuals. The UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) formalizes an international consensus against corruption. The UNCAC addresses both government and private sector corruption. Government corruption involves a public official and either an employee of a business or an individual.
