ABSTRACT

This chapter describes Aga Khan Rural Support Programme in India (AKRSP(I)) and its work in addressing challenges in Indian agriculture especially from the small and marginal farmers’ perspective. Focusing on vegetable smallholder farmers, AKRSP(I) introduced and implemented different models of home gardening including landless gardens in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Its work is designed and implemented to keep food and nutrition security of the poorest households as its prime consideration. The chapter also identifies challenges and approaches taken to avert constraints on home gardening.
