ABSTRACT

The mechanisms for technology transfer are as varied as the agents. This variation depends upon the type of technology. . . . It depends in part upon the agent undertaking technology transfer. Is it a firm, a government agency, non profit, or university? The firm has the ability of using technology at a new site for productive purposes, whereas the government agency or foundation may not be producers. Hence, the firm has options for technology transfer that are not open to other agents. Finally, it depends on the capability of the recipient of the technology to be transferred (a capability which also influences the choice of technology to be transferred). A capable recipient has all options; a recipent that lacks the capability is restricted.
