ABSTRACT

Of the various German-language search engines, Deutsches InterNet Organisations system (DINO) offers the most convenient and extensive listing of history- oriented sites. The DINO history section is divided into subcategories by time period and special interest. H-GERMAN focuses on the scholarly study of German history of all time periods. HABSBURG is devoted "to the history and culture of the former Habsburg lands and peoples from about 1500 until this century". A site crammed with information for anyone interested in history, but somewhat difficult to navigate. Provides information on and links to—among other subjects—German television programs, news articles, research institutes, conferences, and meetings. This outstanding site by the German Historical Museum contains a wealth of information on Germany during World War I. The site investigates the conduct of the war, internal politics, industrial output and control, economic life, research, war propaganda, art, and daily life. It also hosts recordings of speeches by Kaiser Wilhelm II.
