ABSTRACT

Not nearly as complete as Terry Abraham's Repositories of Primary Sources, this UNESCO site is worth knowing about for the important role UNESCO plays in helping archives around the world. The main gateway to repositories with manuscript material for British history, ARCHON is a key British resource for both archivists and researchers. The National Register of Archives leads researchers to a wide variety of manuscript collections, including papers of individuals of note, estates, local authorities, and societies, located both inside and outside the United Kingdom. Select from one of three straightforward, fill-in-the-blank search forms. This electronic catalog derives from the print source, the National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections, a project of the Library of Congress. Major collections include the Nuremberg Trials Collection and the Native American Treaty Collection. A wonderful collection of digitized historical maps from all regions of the world offered by the Libraries at the University of Texas at Austin.
